EA has confirmed a sequel for Unravel

Unravel is a cutesy yarn-based puzzle-platformer that released earlier this year, and while it didn't manage to live up to the lofty expectations people set for it after watching the E3 demo, it did end up a being a rather enjoyable game.

It would also appear it sold extremely well as EA has recently announced a partnership with Coldwood, the small studio behind Unravel, in order to work on a brand new sequel. Here's a brief quote from the announcement message:

"Earlier this year, we released Unravel, a one-of-a-kind, physics-based puzzle platformer that captured the hearts of players around the world.  The awesomely creative development team at Coldwood Interactive brought tiny, endearing Yarny to life. And since then, it’s been quite incredible to see the community’s love for Yarny, both in the game and beyond.

At EA, we love working with creative and passionate development teams, in our own studios and our partners.  Which is why I’m very pleased to announce that we’ve signed a new agreement with Coldwood to work with them on their next project."

There are unfortunately no details to be shared right now, but its still good to hear about EA using their enormous bulk in order to help support an indie team making something that's as far removed from a big-budget AAA game as it gets. You can expect to hear more about Unravel 2, or whatever the working title ends up being, "when the time is right".
