Star Wars 1313 Boba Fett with flamethrower

According to a recent quarterly report Disney has officially given up on game publishing, and the struggling Disney Infinite franchise has been canceled. Worst of all, Avalanche Software (completely different from the Just Cause studio) is being closed down in its entirety, and it seems that all of the staff has been laid off.

While we can only speculate about their reasoning, its quite obvious from the report that the Disney Infinity series has not been performing as expected, though this shouldn't come as much of a surprise to anyone that went to the stores recently and saw how high the prices were for even a 'basic' set.

To continue on with the train of bad news, the hopes for the previously rumored resurrection of Star Wars 1313 are now going to remain just that, simple hopes. A real shame since this was supposed to be the game that gives us the entire origin story of Boba Fett, and where exactly his fancy armor comes from.

As for Avalanche Software, even though they've done mostly generic movie tie-ins I can only sympathize with all of the staff that suddenly found themselves without a job. One can only hope that Disney uses their massive clout in order to find them new employment in the near future, especially since some of the developers only received the bad news today.

Finally, if you're interested in what the whole Disney Infinity business is about anyway, this brief trailer should clue you in:
