Dishonored 2's outsider screenshot

While Dishonored 2 is by all accounts a pretty damn good game, it unfortunately launched on PC with some rather troublesome technical problems. But crashes and infinite loading times aside, the biggest issue currently plaguing the PC version is the unstable performance which can occasionally drop the framerate down to a single digit. Not exactly the best way to experience Dishonored 2, I'm sure you'll agree.

Well, if you're among the unlucky ones affected by these issues I do bring some good news. In a recent blog post Arkane Studios announced that they are well aware of all the PC performance issues and that they are actively working on a fix. Since the whole message is rather brief, here's the full quote:

"Thank you for supporting Dishonored 2.

We have been monitoring the PC forums and social channels and while we're excited to hear that many of you are enjoying the game, we are disheartened that some of you are experiencing PC performance issues on some systems.

We are actively working to provide an update to address your concerns. The patch and its release notes will be available in the coming days.

With the feedback our support group as received, we are preparing a patch intended to provide improvements to allow for more consistent framerates on affected systems and provide an update to the mouse code for smoother input.

While we prepare the patch, we encourage players to use the recommended settings posted on Bethesda.net and check out the Steam Community Guides for the best experience."

As for when exactly this update will be available, that's currently unknown, but given that this blog post went up on November 11 I have a feeling its going to be rather soon. So if you're having trouble with your copy of Dishonored 2 I would recommend having a bit of patience and waiting for the update to arrive, as having to deal with an inconsistent framerate is probably worse than just not playing for a day or two.
