[Update]: Darkest Dungeon 2 is heading into Early Access on October 26, 2021

Back in June Darkest Dungeon received its very first and very significant piece of DLC - The Crimson Court. The mini-expansion brought with it a new hero class, an entirely new dungeon named The Courtyard, a whole bunch of disgusting new enemies and bosses, as well as a variety of improvements to the Hamlet. Only a little while has passed since The Crimson Court, and it would appear that the Darkest Dungeon developers are already planning to add new content.

As you might guess from the title, the newly announced content is an additional class by the name of The Shieldbreaker. Besides the rather cryptic quote that came with the announcement, "Sever the weakened limb; the protected foe", I'm afraid nothing else has been revealed about The Shieldbreaker just yet.

What this also means is that we currently don't know whether The Shieldbreaker is going to come as a part of a larger DLC pack, as a standalone purchase, or even as a free update. Whatever the case may be, I'm very glad to hear that Darkest Dungeon will be getting even more content for us to play around with.
