Dark Souls 3's cinematic intro cutscene has been released today

Dark Souls is genuinely my favorite game ever made, embodying almost every element I love seeing: deep and subtle storytelling, challenging but fair combat, tons of diversity and replay value as well as a well-connected world ripe for exploration.

So I hope you can understand how excited I am that the intro cinematic for Dark Souls 3 has been recently released. But enough of me rambling for now, here's the video and don't worry, there are no spoilers:

I'm not certain whether this is correct or not but I do believe this is the first time we've been given the names of all the Lords of Cinder. They are, in order of apperance: Alrich - Saint of the Deep, Farron's Undead legion and Yhorm the Giant.

If your ears perked up like a bobcat's when you heard "Farron's Undead Legion" I hate to disappoint you but they are seemingly completely unrelated to the extremely cool Faraam Armor Set from Dark Souls 2. What we can tell about them though is that they wield replicas of Artorias' Greatsword and as such must be the fabled Abyss Watchers that were name droped during previous interviews.

What this, along with the presence of a giant lord, means as far as lore is concerned I have absolutely no idea right now and that's the most fun part of Dark Souls for me. The act of piecing together seemingly unrelated stories and clues in order to gain even a barest glimpse at the overall narrative. I wouldn't want it any other way.

If you're interested in some recently released Dark Souls 3 footage here's 6 minutes of a developer playing the backstabbing thief "class".

You will be able to visit the kingdom of Lothric (Lordran + Drangleic?) yourself this April 12th when Dark Souls 3 officially releases for the PC, Xbox One & PS4. I for one can't wait!
