Continuing the long-held tradition of releasing rather strange Dark Souls trailers, Bandai Namco has just posted a PvP trailer for Dark Souls 3's Ashes of Ariandel DLC. As you can expect, it features plenty of dueling, praising the Sun, backstabbing, and oddly enough, what appears to be an organized 3v3 PvP mode.
While certainly not perfect, Dark Souls 3's PvP has been a great deal of fun so far, so to see FromSoftware continue working on and expanding the concept is a great thing indeed. As for what exactly the upcoming Ashes of Ariandel DLC brings in the PvP department, that you can find out through the video below. Don't expect to get a straight answer, however, as this is Dark Souls we're talking about after all! Have a look:
From what I've managed to deduce there are a couple of new weapons showcased in this trailer, but the most important announcement is definitely the presence of 3v3 PvP. FromSoftware tried to do something alike 'organized' PvP with the Artorias of the Abyss version of Dark Souls 1, but due to completely cumbersome mechanics and iffy servers it never really went anywhere. But with Dark Souls 3 and a far superior platform to do it on? Who knows, this might actually be the introduction of proper, organized PvP in a Dark Souls game. Now that would be a sight to behold!
How exactly all of this is going to pan out, I honestly don't know, but we won't have to wait for long in order to find out as Dark Souls 3 - Ashes of Ariandel will be arriving on October 25 for the PC, Xbox One, and PS4. Bring it on!
