While the various CS:GO Operations have always had something added for non-paying players, the newly launched Operation Hydra has taken things to a whole new level. Besides adding four new and three community-created maps, Operation Hydra has also brought with it the CS:GO version of custom games - short minigames that offer a bit of a twist on the standard gameplay formula.

For example, there is now a 2v2 single-bombsite game mode, a standard match variant that doesn't allow you to buy the same weapon twice, a headshots-only mode, a dogtag-collecting game mode you might be familiar with from Call of Duty, a sniper-only map with low gravity, and the list goes on. But best of all, every single one of these modes is free for the entire community to enjoy!

However, if you don't care about any of this random nonsense, worry not as the Operation has all of the same elements as the previous ones. You can follow the 'story' missions and unlock a bunch of new items, complete somewhat challenging missions to gain points and level up, as well as obsess over your competitive play stats and leaderboard position.
