CS:GO screenshot of the new and improved Dust2 map

Back in February Valve removed Dust2 from active duty and placed it into the reserved group. While this little change didn't affect public play as Dust2 still remains the most popular map around, it did mean that official tournaments and leagues could not use it. As you might expect, this was done in order to rework and rebalance the map, though what exactly is being changed I'm afraid nobody outside of Valve really knows.

So if you're as curious as I am, you'll be glad to hear that the Dust2 rework will be available for testing in the very near future! I would love to offer you more than that, but I'm afraid this is pretty much the entirety of the announcement given that it was deliver via Twitter.

As far as speculation is concerned, I have a feeling Dust2's layout is going to be mostly the same, though the visuals are going to be cleaned up in order to make spotting enemies much easier. They've already done this with both Nuke and Inferno, and given how positively the community reacted to those reworks I don't see much of a reason for Valve to change their direction. Either way, I'm really looking forward to trying out the new Dust2!
