Mirage: Arcane Warfare official promo artwork

Mirage: Arcane Warfare is in many ways a spiritual successor to Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. However, while Chivalry at least pretended to be grounded in realism Mirage completely throws it away in favor of spellcasting, alchemy, and a variety of characters with unique abilities and weapons.

If this sounds like something you might enjoy you'll be glad to hear that the Closed Beta will begin later this month, or March 27th to be specific. The signups haven't yet begun, but if you don't feel like taking any chances you can go and sign up for the Closed Alpha over at the official website. Chances are high you won't get into the alpha, but this might just automatically put you into the drawing pool for the beta invites, so if you feel like maximizing your changes its probably worth doing.

On the other hand, if you want guaranteed access to the Closed Beta you can get just that by pre-ordering Mirage for $30. Unless you're a massive fan of Chivalry and already know you will love Mirage I would recommend being patient and holding off on spending any money just yet. The combat system in these types of games is not for everyone, so its probably for the best you first give it a try before opening up your wallet.

Speaking of which, if you're wondering what Mirage: Arcane Warfare even plays like, wonder no more as the developers have recently posted a rather lengthy gameplay video. It features all of the playable classes, a brief overview of a couple of maps, and enough senseless bloodshed to keep all of it interesting. Enjoy!
