While Christmas may have come and gone, there's still plenty of presents to be had in Ark: Survival Evolved as the most recent patch has added the jolly Raptor Claus. You can occasionally encounter him as he darts across the night sky in his sleigh, dropping presents for all the good boys and girls. As for the rest... well, let's just say you don't want to be on this Santa's naughty list!

Besides all of the holiday themed items, Patch 253 brings with it two new (and apparently massive) underwater caves to explore, five new creatures to potentially die against, as well as a camera to immortalize some of your most precious memories, such as a bunch of raptors giving your friend a big ol' toothy hug. If you're wondering what all of this might look like in game, here's the recently posted teaser trailer:

For those among you interested in learning a little bit more about the new dinosaurs, as well as all of the features that came in with Patch 253, you can find the full patch notes over at the Steam forums. And on a slightly less jolly note, if you were hoping to soon start mounting lasers on top of your dinosaurs, I'm afraid you're going to have to wait until January's Patch 254. According to the recently posted announcement the developers simply needed more time to ensure everything functions properly before unleashing the update onto the live servers.

If you don't own Ark: Survival Evolved, but all of this sounds like something you might enjoy, you'll be glad to hear that its currently on a 60% discount on Steam. And finally, its also worth mentioning that Ark: Survival Evolved is getting an official VR spin-off - Ark Park. Its not being made by the same developers, but at least it does have the same dinosaurs!
