Galaxy of Pen & Paper screenshot of a turn-based battle

Galaxy of Pen & Paper is a newly released turn-based RPG about a group of players enjoying what appears to be a futuristic (and somewhat insane) version of Dungeons and Dragons. As you might expect given the genre, you'll have to create your own party of intrepid adventurers, explore distant planets and fight weird aliens, and most importantly of all, collect tons and tons of equally weird space-loot!

If you're wondering what all of this might look like in gameplay terms, allow me to share with you one of the recent announcement videos. The whole thing is about two minutes long, but it does a rather good job of explaining just what kind of RPG you're getting into. Have a look:

As you complete various missions and acquire special pieces of loot you will be able to unlock new content, though what exactly that content is I'm afraid I don't know. What I do know is that there are multiple storylines with plenty of branching paths in each one, a variety of sci-fi cliches and pop culture references to laugh or shrug at, and apparently the ability to customize everything from your battle encounters to the Game Master's table.

So if you're up for a lighthearted turn-based RPG, and all of this sounds like something you would enjoy, you can find out more by heading over to either Steam or the official website. And finally, here's a couple of images to set the mood:
