Fall of Light official artwork without logo

Fall of Light is a story-driven dungeon crawler where you will step into the shoes of an old warrior leading his daughter to the last remnants of sunlight. According to the developers, the whole concept was inspired by games such as Dark Souls and ICO, which I must admit is a rather strange yet intriguing combination of genres.

Its still under heavy development, but if you would like to get a little bit of a sneak peek at the current version of Fall of Light, you'll find the recently posted trailer announcement right below. Have a look:

As you might expect from a game inspired by Dark Souls, Fall of Light will have plenty of different weapons with unique skillsets, as well as a variety of difficult enemies to use them against. Thanks to ICO's influence you will also need to constantly keep your daughter away from harm, as she is the "light piercing the darkness and the key to unlocking forbidden passages". This is both intriguing and worrying at same time. On one hand I love the idea and the presentation behind it, but on the other hand escort quests are some of the most annoying and tedious 'features' of pretty much any game they find themselves in. So the question is, can Fall of Light manage to succeed where so many other games have failed?

While I'm afraid I don't have the answer, we at least won't have to wait for too long in order to find out as Fall of Light will be coming this September 28th. If you would like to learn more I would recommend heading over to either Steam or the official website. And finally, here's a couple of images:
