While I'm not a big fan of horror movies, John Carpenter's "The Thing" is one of the rare few I am perfectly willing to rewatch each year once it inevitably appears in the post-Christmas broadcasting lull. As such, I'm quite happy to say that the upcoming 3D survival game Distrust appears to be a rather faithful adaption of the concept.

As you would expect the action starts with our lone survivors getting stranded near an abandoned Arctic base that just so happens to host a rather nasty shape-shifting creature. In order to survive you will need to not only scavenge for food and equipment, but also keep a close eye at your fellow survivors as you can never tell which one of them is not what they appear to be. As a movie concept this worked pretty damn great, but how does it all transfer to a video game?

Well, if you would like to find out you might be interested to hear that there is a free demo available! Simply head on over to Steam and you'll see a "Download Demo" button on the right side. The demo is not overly long, but it should give you a pretty good idea of whether Distrust is the type of game you'd enjoy or not.

As for the release date, you can expect to see Distrust on August 23rd. And finally, if you don't feel like downloading the demo blindly, here's one of the recent trailers. Much like the demo its not overly long, but it should give you a solid glimpse at what Distrust is trying to achieve. Enjoy!
